Here is somewhat of a blanket update of what's been going on this Spring in the Self family...
We've had a mild and rainy Spring. On all those rainy inside days we'd just tell ourselves "the lake is filling up!". And it is! When it would dry up enough to go outside we head to the swing set or go feed the geese.
When it's been really nice we've made several trips to the park, with friends, family, and Daddy even came along one day!! I think it was the first time he'd ever been with Charlotte. It was a gorgeous day and we had NO PLANS! That's rare!
Charlotte has no fear and did everything Sarah Grace did and
then some! She loves the rock climbing wall. She's not afraid of heights. She'll climb anything, which is a little scary. Sarah Grace had fun too. She loves to swing, yet another thing she gets from me. She even got her dad and his long legs on the swings with her!
After a quick tailgate break and snacks we brought out the
scooter and let the girls ride around on the trails. It ended up in both having scraped knees. On the scooter trip SG found a caterpillar and was SHOCKED when I let it crawl up my arm. I'm NOT a bug person but I will do caterpillars, lady bugs, and rolly pollies. After they were over the scooter and we carried it all way back to the car and headed to Brusters!
Mimi and Pawpaw have also taken the girls to the park for play dates. And Pawpaw has made quite the little fisherman out of Sarah Grace. He takes her down to our lake and she practices her casting, she's GOOD! She can't wait to go to the "real" lake and fish with bait.
Like every year, we went to Grayson Days. We met the
Gadds and some friends for the parade. We got there a little too early and the kids were ready to go before the parade ever started. We were out of snacks and everyone's sippy cups were empty before 10 AM. The parade finally started and all the kids stood at the ready with their bags to collect all the candy they throw into the crowd. Charlotte loved the firetruck and the marching band! SarahGrace liked the "princesses" AKA Miss Grayson HS and Little Miss Grayson, she also liked the cloggers and karate guys with swords. After getting a bag full of candy we headed into the park.
Both of the girls got their faces painted, and we did Fairy Hair. There were other little crafts, a petting zoo and lots of moonwalks and jumpies. After BAKING in the sun for a few hours we went to the playground and found some shade and all shared hot dogs.
Sarah Grace finished her first year of big school and is officially a 1st grader now. She had a great year and had awesome teachers. She really did well and never ONCE said she didn't want to go to school. She loved riding the bus, having family come eat lunch with her and having me help out in her class.

She did great in Field Day Olympics. She was very focused and
determined in all her events, she gets that from her dad. I went on "opening ceremonies" day with her and then Adam and I both got to go the day of her events. Adam helped with all the events and I was the cheerleader/photographer for her class. Her class won 2nd place in the Tug of War, which was her favorite. She had a strategy and she told all her friends how to "dig" their feet in the sand and "lean back". It worked, they got 2nd place out of 12 classes.
She also did the torch relay, 3-legged sack race, noodle race, pennies in the flour game, and the tire roll. She did good in everything, she was surprisingly coordinated.

We've also had two weddings in the family this Spring. I have 2 new cousins, Joy Lord and Brittany Lorentz. Congrats newly weds!
